Dr John McCoombes
B.Med.Sc., M.B., B.S.(Qld), F.R.A.N.Z.C.O.

Dr John McCoombes' special interest is diseases and surgery of the vitreous and retina.

Dr McCoombes joined The Eye Centre on the Gold Coast in 2002, and subsequently expanded it to Brisbane by opening rooms at Mt Gravatt. He has been providing retinal services to the south side of Brisbane and the Gold Coast since 2003. In February 2008 Dr McCoombes joined The Retinal Institute and in May of that year saw a name change to Vision Retinal Institute. The name change reflects our growth and national strength but importantly at a local level we remain the same team, providing the same high standard of clinical expertise and commitment to patient care. Dr McCoombes has now expanded his Brisbane retinal services to central Brisbane at Eye Centre River City.

Dr McCoombes has also been providing a surgical and medical retinal service as Staff Consultant at The Mater Hospital in Brisbane for the last five years. He is actively involved in the Queensland Eye Registrar Training Program and is Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland.
